CLIENT FAQ

A Simple Reset When Things Start Moving

Q. We just got our onboarding email from LWJ., what should we focus on first?

This is the most common moment families feel overwhelmed. That’s normal.

Right now, athletes are in the onboarding phase and this is tracked within Clckup app, as well as all tasks and updates moving forward. The goal is simply to make sure athlete is staying on track by adjusting their current daily routine, and start to include the action items provided by LWJ. Early on, being overwhelmed is common, but LWJ is constantly working with athlete to keep them moving forward.

Q: How much should my athlete be doing on their own versus with LWJ?

LWJ works directly with athletes. That’s intentional. Your athlete is expected to complete tasks, communicate, and stay organized. LWJ provides structure (Clickup App), guidance, and support so they don’t have to guess but execution still belongs to the athlete.

Parents can help in areas like filling out recruiting questionnaires, applying to schools, going on visits and asking parent facing questions, emailing school or coaches when financial details are needed.

Tip:
Many times progress looks differently after you are able to step back and just parent. Take some breaths and know that LWJ will be by your childs side and you can access Clickup to follow any communication or task progress.

Q: What if my athlete "falls behind" in tasks?

This happens more often than families expect, especially during busy seasons. LWJ monitors engagement and will reach out if an athlete goes quiet or stops completing tasks. LWJ works hard to build trust with your athlete and has tools to get them to give themselves a jumpstart. The goal is support, giving them opportunities to see the lesson and learn not punishment.

Q: What should we remember when recruiting feels stressful?

Recruiting is emotional, with ups and downs. The process is different for everyone. Stress usually means the outcome matters not that something is wrong.

LWJ’s role is to reduce guessing, prevent avoidable mistakes, and help athletes make informed decisions not to rush outcomes. If more support is needed, LWJ does provide one hour consulting and can be added on at any time.

Q: Understanding what Coach Connect DOES NOT include:
  • Planning but not limited to: camps, visits, showcases, phone calls, in-person conversations

  • Off-Season planning

  • Offer Decision making and advising

  • Film evaluation & graphics

  • Reviewing and education about social media

  • Mental health or advising outside the scope of Coach Connect communication

LWJ’s goal is to support athletes before pressure builds, not after mistakes happen. If you’re unsure what applies, reach out early so the right support can be in place.

Q: Coach Connect Elite vs. Essential:

Coach Connect Essential:

  • Recruiting education- Custom LWJ Course

  • Communication Education: LWJ Course: understanding email & DM templates + subject line guidance. Understanding coach interest levels.

Coach Connect Elite:

  • Everything in Essential

  • LWJ customization of templates

  • Direct guidance on how to respond to DM's, texts and emails. However, once guidance starts to move athlete needing advice on how to plan visits, phone calls etc., parent will be notified of recommendations on add-ons to support this next phase.

Coach Connect moves with athlete. You may see the athlete take more time to learn the aspects of recruiting communication or some just want immediate custom/more hand holding, right up front. Elite and Essential are built to be used monthly and give freedom to move up and down, as the athlete learns more and gains more confidence in this part of the process.

Q: How do we know when we need more support?

Support needs naturally change as recruiting becomes more real and LWJ is made to move and shift, as your child moves throughout the process. Adjusting support happens fast, especially as "seasons" move from in to "off" season and interest can change in a matter of hours.

LWJ works with families to keep them up to date on next steps and will reach out when a recommendation for an add-on or support needs your attention.
